Upgrade For Sure "UFS” Offer for International and Domestic Passengers

Upgrade For Sure "UFS" Offer has been launched to provide a convenient opportunity for all passengers to avail confirmed paid upgrade to Business/First Class both for Domestic and International travel


  • Valid on all AI operated sectors across the AI network.
  • No waiting or uncertainty at the Airport.
  • All benefits of the upgraded class will be provided, except the baggage allowance.
  • Baggage allowance as per the original class of travel.

1. Applicability:

  • This facility shall be available for within 24 hours of departure for International flights and within 12 hours of departure for Domestic flights (includes domestic leg of international flights)
  • The Upgrade for Sure – UFS is applicable only on confirmed Air India ticket numbers starting with 098.., that have already been issued and paid for travel on Air India operated flights.
  • It is not applicable for any discounted, FFP (Frequent Flier Programme) redemption and interline tickets.

2. Point of Sale: City Booking Offices/Airport Ticketing offices & Authorized Travel Agency locations across Air India global network. (Not currently available on the Air India Website/Mobile App).

3. Reissuance & Fare Difference:

  • Original booking is changed to the lowest available Business/First Class booking class.
  • Upgrade for Sure is not permitted from Economy to First Class.
  • The Fare rules and Baggage charges of the original issued ticket applies to the new reissued ticket.
  • Upgrade for Sure amount is non- Refundable in case of Refunds and Reissue.
  • In case of domestic leg forming part of the international journey with two separate flight numbers,Upgrade for Sure charges for both the sectors will apply.
  • In case of domestic cum international flight with a single flight number the applicableUpgrade for Surecharges from the point of origin to destination will apply.

4. GST:

For journeys originating from India irrespective of point of sale, as per GST rules, the first international leg determines the GST rate for entire ticket.

eg: If the original ticket is in Economy class, the GST* collected is @ 5%. At the time of reissuance the GST applicable will be 12% for the entire return ticket.

5. Refund /Modifications:

In case of No show following options are available to passenger:

If Passenger wants a refund of the whole ticket:

  • Upgrade For Sure amount is non refundable
  • Ticket shall be refunded as per laid down fare rules of the original ticket.

Passenger wants to travel on a different date /change routing, subject to:

  • UFS charges shall be adjusted only against difference in base fare and not against penalty charges.
  • Upgrade For Sure amount is non refundable

Once tickets are reissued under the scheme any further modifications are permissible only from an Air India City office, preferably from the office where theUpgrade for Sure tickets have been issued.

6. Validity of Scheme: Till Further Notice. (Airline reserves right to withdraw the scheme without notice)

7. Child/ Infant: Child and Infant are permitted on the Upgrade for Sure scheme by collecting full Upgrade Charges, no discounts permitted.

8. The "Upgrade For Sure" offer is in addition to the ongoing Get Upfront Scheme which is a paid upgrade subject to availability at Airport, whereas the Upgrade For Sure is on a confirmed basis.
